Malawi's Power-Hitting Blitz Ends Eswatini's T20 Qualifier Dream

Malawi chased down Eswatini's modest 75 in just 6.5 overs, winning by eight wickets in a one-sided affair at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub Regional Qualifier B. The gulf between the two sides showed starkly in how quickly the chase unfolded.

Eswatini's batting collapsed spectacularly. Adil Butt top-scored with 21 off 16 balls, while Melusi Magagula managed only 17 off 24 in a sluggish middle order. The entire side folded for 75 in 15.2 overs—a damning indictment on their batting depth. Saqib Anwar's disciplined 1/13 and Umair Qasim's economical 1/24 kept Eswatini suffocated throughout.

Malawi's response was brutally efficient. Sami Sohail took the attack to the bowling from the first ball, smashing an unbeaten 50 off just 19 deliveries—a strike rate of 263.15. He alone outscored Eswatini's top three batsmen combined. Donnex Kansonkho contributed a quickfire 8 off 4 to keep the momentum roaring. The target was reached in under seven overs, highlighting the chasm in quality. Eswatini's bowlers had no answers; Mike Chaomba went wicketless while conceding five runs.

A clinical performance from Malawi. Eswatini never got out of the blocks.
