Mumbai's 162 Just Inches Ahead as Delhi Fall Short by 2 Runs

Mumbai Indians squeezed past Delhi Capitals by 2 runs in a thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, with Suryakumar Yadav's 51 off 36 balls proving the difference in a match decided by fine margins.

Mumbai posted 162 for 6 after 20 overs, anchored by Rohit Sharma's 35 off 26 to give them early momentum. The powerplay yield came to roughly 38 runs, but Santner's tight bowling — just 22 off his four overs with a wicket — slowed the chase threat. Corbin Bosch took one for 35, conceding 8.75 per over, but depth batting held Mumbai steady through the middle overs.

Delhi's chase never quite caught the run rate. Sameer Rizvi played a match-winning knock — 90 off 51 balls, strike rate of 176 — and Pathum Nissanka added 44 off 30, but Delhi managed only 160 for 4 in 18 overs. They needed 11 off the final two overs and managed just 5. Rizvi's boundary count (7 fours, 3 sixes) kept Delhi in the hunt, yet the final partnership couldn't find the yorker length early enough. The gap between 162 and 160 was there in the death bowling — Mumbai's bowlers held their nerve, Delhi's didn't quite have the platform to attack freely in the last over.
